ASME is monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation to ensure the health and safety of our meeting and conference participants, as well as our staff. We will also be monitoring the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as the situation progresses.
As of this date, the conference is currently scheduled to take place. Please continue your work in the expectation that the conference will occur. All dates in the current Publications Schedule will be followed. Should it be determined that the conference may need to be postponed, cancelled, or held virtually instead of in-person for the health and safety of all, ASME has committed to offering the option of publishing the papers through our usual channels. Please note that the one author per paper registration requirement will still hold should the conference be held virtually, but the presentation requirement may be waived. Should this become necessary, virtual conference registration fees will be discounted from the regular conference fee. If postponed, ASME will work with the conference organizing committee to determine whether the papers will be published at the time of the scheduled conference or delayed until the rescheduled one.

Exploring the intersection between safety, environment, and emerging technologies.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers & United States Coast Guard will host the Workshop on Marine Technology and Standards from October 20-21, 2020 at the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, DC.
Starting in 2008, this is the fifth workshop ASME & USCG have partnered to sponsor. The purpose of the workshop is to provide a technical exchange on areas of technology that impact the marine industry with corresponding coverage in related codes and standards and government regulations.
This year’s theme is “Exploring the intersection between safety, environment, and emerging technologies.” The workshop is comprised of a series of panel sessions carried over a two-day period. It is open to the public through advanced registration.
This is a unique opportunity for classification societies, industry groups, standards development organizations, governments and interested members of the public to come together for a professional exchange on topics ranging from technological impacts to the marine industry, corresponding coverage in related codes and standards, and government regulations.
Practicing experts in related disciplines are invited to submit abstracts on this field. Share your expertise and leadership, gain recognition, and showcase your organization’s work by presenting at this leading industry workshop.
Indexing and Discovery
All ASME Proceedings are submitted for indexing to Scopus, Compendex, ISI Conference Proceedings Citation Index, and other major indexers. In addition, all ASME Conference papers are discoverable through Google Scholar search and all other major search engines. Indexing publishers are independent organizations and determine which and when conference proceedings are indexed.

The proceedings of this event will be added to the ASME Digital Collection following the event. Access proceedings from past workshops.
Professional Development Hours
Registered attendees may receive a Certificate from ASME following the workshop that awards Professional Development Hours for attendance at all sessions over the course of the event. Those receiving Certificates will need to confer with their individual state licensing agencies to determine whether or not they accept these units as meeting their requirements for licensed Professional Engineers.
